ABOUT US
We are a water and God loving family of four…plus a dog who claims to be a child. There is a certain peace, joy, and calm that comes from living near and on water. It offers a connection and constant reminder of our Creator, unmatched.
Our dreams of living on the water began with a meager backyard pool in our otherwise dry desert yard in Arizona. We looked upon that pool with eyes of faith for more expansive water; someday. When God moved us to a home on a small private lake we reveled in the waterfront opportunity, yet still looked with those same eyes of faith to more water and less obstructed views. When He moved us to a houseboat floating on a large lake surrounded by mountains, we knew without a doubt it was a step toward living and cruising on the open ocean.
A common theme in our lives regardless of location is the clear calling to serve where God calls us. Our careers include many years in law enforcement protecting and serving others, psychology counseling those with severe addictions, abuse, and deprivations, teaching as professor and leading others in serving professions, camps for homeless children, founding a non-profit homeschool ministry, serving on another non-profit board of directors, and of course, homeschooling our kiddos. It is true that it is more blessed to give than to receive, and we look with anticipation to each connection we will make with others along our journey. Be it through missions, churches, or just volunteering when and where there is a need, we know our calling to serve adapts, but does not cease.
Our children have fully enjoyed the benefits of waterfront living. From paddle boating, sunset dinner cruises, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, tubing, or simply practicing their dives and head first plunge down the houseboat water slide, the water has been a joy. We have lived and schooled from their birth with water surrounding. Our dog, Sasha-sporting a red life jacket, has enjoyed all of these activities alongside our girls…even including tubing (slowly), paddle boarding, kayaking, boating, and swimming after the occasional drift wood stick. We have schooled our daughters on our pontoon and now ski boat alongside ducks, crayfish, wild donkeys, and the likes of awe inspiring creatures and scenery.
We began formal homeschooling when our daughters were just 2 and 4. We didn’t know anyone who homeschooled, and quite honestly thought it to be weird and possibly abnormal. Yet, it was what God placed on our hearts and after some research, we dove in…pun intended. We haven’t looked back or questioned homeschooling again. It has been a perfect fit in every way for our family. It has afforded us the ability to transition with ease through our unconventional homes and adventurous, surrendered lives.
We will leave behind parents, siblings, grandparents, and many friends ranging from Arizona, California, Kauai, Texas, Louisiana, and New Mexico. Although we are extending the geographical distance, this family of friends and relatives will always be close to our hearts, and we’ll always keep a bed ready for visitors!
